aoki takamasa + tujiko noriko

(cover from FatCat Records)

Several months ago, on a dark and cold winter's night, I heard Aoki Takamasa + Tujiko Noriko's track, "fly variation" from their album 28 on Radio-Canada's Espace Musique. The radio was humming quietly in the background but when it came on and I heard the murmurings of a sweet voice, I was compelled to turn it up. Their music is dreamy, piqued with electronic beats and synth sounds. It is the perfect album to wake up to, to listen to on the commute to work, when entertaining or getting ready to go out. It is innovative but easy, ambient listening with no hint of pretension.

Takamasa and Noriko both have blogs, often posting nice photos à la "osampo camera", and seem really sweet when responding to blog comments – which of course only makes me like them/their music more.

You can listen to their best tracks off their label's (FatCat Records) site.
