A marriage of convenience

I love Danish design, and of course Kay Bojesen’s beloved teak monkeys for Rosendahl. I also love Roadkill’s amazing jewellery. So how marvellous that the two collide and that I am the first and thus far only bearer of this magificent piece. He is so beautifully handcrafted, even his riveted arms can swing! It’s perfectly paired with a twenty-four inch oxidized silver chain, and I’m sure I’ll wear him everyday. Be sure to check out the Roadkill booth at the Souk -on again tomorrow from 12-17 at the SAT.

Riddle me this

(Tom Scott: This is how you do it)

I like old man trousers. A bit high waisted and pleated. What vexes me is the appropriate footwear to counteract the oldman-ness of the pants. Flip flops and rolled up cuffs are nice in the summertime. Any pump or sandal such as these568_regular
or a general shoe would work also, but what does when do when one enters into boot territory? I can see a round-toe heeled ankle boot with a subtle platform, but these pants don’t have the same versatility with footwear as slimmer trousers.

The look is done right here in Tom Scott’s Spring/Summer ‘07 collection – and what a nice pair of pants they are. Nevertheless, once again we’re only entering the dead of winter and the shelving of all pretty shoes. So then that makes me vexed even still.

I love thinking up great gifts for loved ones for the holidays, but have a low success rate actually finding the perfect and unique gift within limited time frames – and I just don’t feel comfortable with a gift that is less than 100% genuine and heartfelt. That is why I often make many of my gifts (and while I started doing that waaay back as a kid since I didn’t have any money I continue to because it shows you really care) and often the recipients get them a bit late…

If time and ideas are a constraint, the annual Souk at the SAT provides an abundance of options with the wares of the city’s talented clothing, toy, jewellery, product, interior, etc. designers. If you despise generic gifts, this is a pretty good spot. It’s the Souk’s fourth anniversary and it keeps getting better. Support the independents; stop by this weekend.
